Saturn

Saturn is the sixth planet in the solar system. This is the second of the so-called outer planets. The average distance of Saturn from the Sun is 14.294 million kilometers. With a diameter of 120,536 kilometers, It is the second largest planet after Jupiter. Saturn orbits the Sun in 29 years and 168 days. The planet has no surface and the period of rotation is uncertain. A day on Saturn lasts 10 hours and 45 minutes. The planet has a rocky core, a layer of hydrogen and an atmosphere of hydrogen and helium. The temperature at the top of the atmosphere is -180ÂșC. Therefore, it is equal to the temperature on Jupiter.

Cloud belts

Planet like Jupiter has parallel bands of clouds on its surface. However, they are not clearly visible. These clouds are created by hurricanes that blow all over the planet. The wind speed is as high as 1800 km/h. The most famous feature of Saturn is its impressive ring. The rings were discovered by Galileo in 1610. His telescope is not powerful enough to detect everything that is observed. Today, although Saturn has seven main rings, there are still hundreds of rings orbiting the planet. Saturn’s rings extend on the equatorial plane. The first rings are composed of ice water particles. The size of each particle ranges from tiny dust particles to rocks the size of a few meters.

Months around the planet

Interestingly, like Jupiter, Saturn has a large number of moons. The moons are big and very famous. Titan is Saturn’s largest moon. It is the only moon in the solar system with a distinct atmosphere. The moons that have long been known are: Mimas, Tethys, Enceladus, Dione, Titan, Rhea, Titan, Iapetus, Hyperion, and Phoebe. Today, scientists are especially interested in Titan and Enceladus. Therefore, these months have also been the most studied. The exact number of satellites is not certain, because there are many objects orbiting Saturn.
